FAQ

Questions about Noted.

Noted is a free Chrome extension and web app for private notes on the people you meet. Your notes show up on LinkedIn, in Gmail and in Google Calendar. Here are straight answers on price, privacy and how it works.

Using Noted

What is Noted?

Noted is a free Chrome extension and web app for keeping private notes on the people you meet. Your notes show up on their LinkedIn profile, in Gmail and in Google Calendar, so the details are there when you meet again.

Is Noted free?

Yes. Noted is free. The Chrome extension and the web app at app.withnoted.com are completely free to use.

Which browsers does Noted work in?

Chrome on your computer. Other browsers, like Edge, Brave, Firefox and Safari, aren't supported today. If you’d like to see support for other browsers, please email us at feedback@withnoted.com.

Can I use Noted on my phone?

Yes, in your phone's browser. The Noted web app at app.withnoted.com works there, so you can check a group on the walk from the car. There's no separate mobile app yet.

What about people who aren't on LinkedIn?

Add anyone in the web app with just a name, and put them in groups like "Mustangs U10 parents".

Is Noted a CRM?

Not in the usual sense. There are no pipelines, deal stages or sequences. Noted is a private place for the human details you remember about people, shown where you meet them again. Some people call that a personal CRM. See how Noted compares to other personal CRMs.

Does Noted use AI?

Not today. Noted never writes notes or messages for you. Our strong belief is that, to build more human relationships, you need to be human. Your notes are in your own words, and so is everything you send.

Does Noted remind me to stay in touch?

Not today. Noted shows your notes when you meet someone again: on their profile, in their email or in the meeting invite. Each note shows its age, so you know what's worth re-checking.

Who makes Noted?

Noted is made by Evan, its founder. He built it to remember the people between his inner circle and everyone else. You can reach him at hello@withnoted.com.

Privacy

Can anyone else see my notes?

No. Only you can see your notes. They're never shared or sold.

Do people know I keep notes on them?

No. Nobody is notified, and your notes are visible only to you.

Does Noted read my email?

Not your messages. If you switch Gmail on, Noted only uses names and email addresses on the open email to find your people. Nothing from your emails or events is saved or sent.

Does Noted read my calendar events?

No. It uses guests' names and email addresses to find your people. The event title only labels the panel on your screen, and nothing from the event is saved or sent to Noted.

Can I export or delete my data?

Yes. Export everything as CSV or JSON, or delete your account, from Settings in the web app. Deleting removes your people and notes permanently.

Gmail and Google Calendar

Does Noted add people from my email automatically?

No. Someone new gets a small “+ Add” badge, and nothing happens until you click it. You can add them, or link the address to someone already in Noted. Our belief is that your Noted account should be curated by you, not automated.

What about big group emails?

On emails with more than 15 people, Noted only marks the people you already know. It won't offer to add everyone on the thread.

Does it work with work Gmail accounts?

Yes. Noted works on mail.google.com in Chrome, and you can have personal and work accounts signed in at the same time. Always use your personal Gmail as the primary Noted account, so your notes stay with you when you change jobs.

Can I keep notes on my contacts in Gmail?

Yes, with Noted, a free Chrome extension. Switch Gmail on in the Noted popup. People you have notes on get a badge in the email, and one click opens your notes beside the message. Noted reads names and email addresses, not your messages.

What does “You saw Jane today” mean?

After a meeting that ended today, Noted shows a note box for the people you met, so you can write down what you learned while it's fresh. It never shows for guests who declined.

Does it work in the Gmail or Calendar phone apps?

Not today. The Noted extension runs in Chrome on your computer. You can still see your notes in your phone's browser at app.withnoted.com.

Does it work with Outlook?

Not today. Noted works with Gmail and Google Calendar in Chrome. If you’d like to see support for Outlook, please email us at feedback@withnoted.com.

LinkedIn

Are LinkedIn notes private?

LinkedIn has no private notes field on regular profiles, and the note on a connection request is read by the person you invite. Notes you keep with Noted are private to you. They're stored in your Noted account, not on LinkedIn, so neither LinkedIn nor the person you wrote about can see them.

How do I add notes to a LinkedIn profile?

Add Noted, a free Chrome extension, then open anyone's LinkedIn profile. Click the Noted button in the corner and write what you want to remember, in your own words. Next time you open that profile, your notes are one click away. Only you can see them.

Do I need LinkedIn Premium?

No. Noted works on LinkedIn profiles with a free LinkedIn account.

Does Noted message people or collect data from LinkedIn?

No. Noted reads the basic details of the profile you have open (name, title and company) so your notes attach to the right person. It never sends messages, connects with anyone, or collects anything in the background.

Does Noted work in Sales Navigator?

Not today. Noted works on LinkedIn profile pages. If you’d like to see support for Sales Navigator, send us an email at feedback@withnoted.com.

Your career

What happens to my notes if I change jobs?

Nothing. They live in your own account, not your employer's. Sign up with a personal email and they stay with you.
